Production Mode : Configuration and Checklist

List of steps to be taken when moving a site into production mode / going live

1. The site must be installed and configured as specified in the STARLIMS Installation Guide.
2. Update web.config settings (edit the file directly or use the STARLIMS console, see details below)
3. Make sure UTC is enabled - add "useUTC" to all connection string. ProviderName fields.
4. If needed, increase the default timeout - add "cmdTimeout=###" to the ProviderName.
5. Set UniqueAppDomain to "true."
6. Set RecycleAppDomains to "Never."
7. Enable forms and images caching in Client Cache Control.
8. Make sure all STARLIMS folders/data are excluded from antivirus scans on all app and database servers.
9. Recycle application pool.

Server configuration for Production Mode

To switch your site to Production Mode you need to open the StarLIMS console.

Start Menu, Run, MMC or MMC -32, File, Add and Remove Snap-in, look of STARLIMS Console and add it.

Once in Starlims console change to production mode, save (there is a button at the end of that same screen).  

You can achieve the same result by changing manually the web.config file replacing this part:

  <add key="UniqueAppDomain" value="false" />

By 

 <add key="RecycleAppDomains" value="Never" />
  <add key="UniqueAppDomain" value="true" />
