STARLIMS Console Error Remediation

SL Management Console Error after Runtime 11.3 Upgrade

Error:

Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///c:\prog ram files\starlims\systemmanager\Starlims.SnapIn.dll' or one of its dependencies . This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime an d cannot be loaded..

Resolution: Please follow the steps below as described in the Updater Guide document on page 17. Updater guide is on the technology platform media received from Starlims under documentation/Guides folder. 

Scenario 1:

There is already a STARLIMS.msc file saved on the server.

1. Create a .bat file (launch STARLIMS console.bat) in the same folder as STARLIMS.msc.
2. Add this code to the .bat file:

          set COMPLUS_version=v4.0.30319

          start starlims.msc

3. Save the .bat file.
4. Use the .bat file to start the STARLIMS Console.

Scenario 2:

The STARLIMS Console has not been used on the server,

1. Create a .bat file (launch mmc 4.0.bat).
2. Add this code to the .bat file:

           set COMPLUS_version=v4.0.30319

           mmc.exe

3. Save the .bat file.
4. Run the .bat file. This will open the mmc application and allow you to add the STARLIMS Console Snap-In.
5. Save the new console as STARLIMS.msc.
6. Perform all steps from Scenario 1.

STARLIMS Console Stopped Working After Upgrade

Error: 

The STARLIMS Console tool won’t work on Windows Server 2008 R2.

CAUSE:

Upgrading to .NET 4.6.2.

SOLUTION:

Some fixes must be applied.

There are 2 possible scenarios requiring different solutions:

Scenario 1: 

There is already a STARLIMS.msc file saved on the server.

1. Create a .bat file (launch STARLIMS console.bat) in the same folder as STARLIMS.msc
2. Add this code to the .bat file:
set COMPLUS_version = v4.0.30319
start starlims.msc
3. Save the .bat file.
4. Use the .bat file to start the STARLIMS Console.

Scenario 2: 

The STARLIMS Console has not been used on the server,

1. Create a .bat file (launch mmc 4.0.bat).
2. Add this code to the .bat file:
     set COMPLUS_version=v4.0.30319
     mmc.exe
3. Save the .bat file.
4. Run the .bat file. This will open the mmc application and allow you to add the STARLIMS Console
Snap-In.
5. Save the new console has STARLIMS.msc.
6. Perform all steps from Scenario 1.
